Fall 2008

Dear Friends of the Spiritual Life Center:

Welcome to a new season and a new series of programming at the St. Agnes Spiritual Life Center! I think you will find a nice array of offerings for your growth and enjoyment.

Our most exciting news is that renowned author Jim Forest will once again visit the Spiritual Life Center. Join us for The Pilgrimage of Illness at 1PM Tuesday afternoon, October 14 and The Way of Peacemaking at 7PM Wednesday evening October 15. Jim is editor of the quarterly journal, In Communion, and secretary of the Orthodox Peace Fellowship. He is the author of several award-winning books, including Praying with Icons, Ladder of the Beatitudes, Love is the Measure: A Biography of Dorothy Day, and Living with Wisdom: A Life of Thomas Merton. Kindly contact me should you plan to attend either or both events.

This fall we will offer an inaugural Silent Advent Retreat. The first three Mondays in Advent we will gather in the Spiritual Life Center at 6:00 for an hour of prayer and Advent reflections, grounded in Ignatian Spirituality. This promises to be a wonderful opportunity to prepare for the birth of our Lord. Also, we will offer an Advent Day of Prayer on Saturday, December 13 for those of you who can join us for a full day.

December will be a busy month for us as we will also host a Christmas Boutique on Sunday, December 7. All the books in our center will be discounted for your enjoyment. In addition, we will have homemade goodies as well as beautiful rosaries and jewelry made by local craftsman.

Finally, I would like to highlight another new offering at the SLC this fall. Our new series, Six Weeks with the Bible, will run on consecutive Wednesday evenings beginning October 22 until November19. Please see the schedule section of the website for more information.

These are just some highlights of the varied events we have planned for you this fall. I look forward to welcoming you in person to our beautiful center.

In Christ's Peace,
Rosemary Robinson
