Fall 2009

Dear Friends of the Spiritual Life Center,

As I write this letter the clock is ticking toward the autumn equinox at 2:18 this very afternoon. The Irish Jesuits, in their beautiful book Sacred Space, remind us: "from now on, darkness is pushing down the daylight on half of the Earth...the nights are longer than the days. As the year moves toward its end, we feel our own mortality." May the God of immortality be yours this day-a comfort and a guide.

With the cooler temperatures of fall and winter approaching, it is a good time to consider all that the Spiritual Life Center has to offer. Our fall schedule has been posted on the website for your perusal and pleasure. Some of the highlights include a six week course on Understanding and Praying the Gospel, given by Fr. Ray Allender, S.J. Beginning November 3 and running through December 8, Fr. Ray will explore the different images of Jesus found in the four gospels and the consequences for living that follow from each image. The course will be given at 1:30 in the afternoon and repeat again at 7:30 in the evening.

You may also want to consider one (or both!) of our two days of prayer: A Day of Remembrance on Saturday October 31 and An Advent Day of Prayer Saturday December 12.

Please know that you are always welcome here at the Spiritual Life Center, whether for Faith Sharing on Tuesday mornings at 9:00, the Men's Spirituality Group Thursday evenings or just to come by and browse the library. We are here to serve you!

As always, I ask your prayers for me and all the good volunteers and presenters who work together to make the SLC such a welcoming place. I in turn will keep you in my prayers.

In Christ,

Rosemary Ellis Robinson
